Lumen WB Study Hubs

The job

Lumen Wheatbelt Study Hubs runs five study hubs across the Wheatbelt. Any student at uni, TAFE, or a registered training organisation can come in, use the facilities, and get study support. Three of the hubs stay open from 6am to 10pm. We filmed the people who run them at an expo, talking through what the hubs are for and why they exist. A study hub is a room, and a room is hard to explain from a page. The film is the people who run the five hubs, saying what a student actually walks into.

What we did

Talking heads, B-roll, and stills.

A short film of the hubs, told by the people who run them

02

Expo footage cut against what they say

B-roll and stills carrying the ideas, with music under the cut

The work

The film stays with that. A wall of careers so young people can see the work that is actually out here, and a place to write down what they want to be. Home is a hard place to get motivated. The hub is a room you walk into and start. Some students stay all day. Some come in to print and leave. Every study path is different, and the hubs are there for it. The wall of careers, and the difference between studying at home and walking into a room that is open, is what the cut is for.
