Event Coverage
A film about the camps run by Armed For Life, a harm-prevention charity in Perth.
Armed For Life is a harm-prevention charity in Perth. It works with children, teenagers and adults on resilience and mental health. In schools it runs sessions on resilience, managing emotions and healthy friendships. The holiday camps, for juniors and for seniors, are the part of that work the organisation asked to have on film.
The camps are where that work leaves the classroom. A program outline can list the days. It cannot show the leaders, or what it is like for a young person to be there. Growth Concept Media filmed the camps and cut a film the charity can keep, and can send when a school or a family asks what they are signing up for.

Adam Przytula founded Armed For Life in Perth after his own years at school. He trained as a teacher and has spent years speaking in schools. The charity now works in schools across Western Australia, and the camps run alongside that, for younger teenagers and for older ones.
The film stays with why he started, and with a young person who thanks the leaders for a place they could feel safe. It is not a tour of the timetable. It is the story a school can show a family: why the camps exist, and what they gave someone who came through them, instead of only a program outline.
