Documentary
Documentary production in Perth is short documentaries for people and businesses. We film the interviews and the place, then cut it so someone who was not there can follow what happened. We work across Greater Perth.

A conversation
This is for the piece that needs more than a minute. A founder, a family business, a town, a project that took years. We spend time on the interviews and the pictures around them, then cut a film you can put on your site or send to someone who was not in the room. Shorter clips can come from the same footage once the long piece is clear, if you want them.

See the projectWe don't work with everyone. Before anyone books a shoot, they go through an application and onboarding process, because the work only lands properly when the fit is right. Here's what that looks like.
01

We work out whether we're right for each other. We're looking for ambitious people who want to grow and aren't afraid to put themselves out there, and clients who want an ongoing partnership rather than a one-off shoot. Retainers are where the results actually show up, because content compounds.
02

This is where we get into your business. What you're trying to achieve, what success looks like, what the content needs to do. It's also where you get to know us. By the time we're pointing a camera at you, we're not strangers, and that's most of the reason people look comfortable in our footage.
03

You get permission to be imperfect. We send through the shot list, then run a brainstorming session on what we're recording and the strategy behind it. If you'd rather be directed live on the day, we can do that instead.
04

Coaching and refining. My job is to make you feel comfortable and to keep pulling until the message is clear. My rule is simple: if it's unclear to me, it's unclear to the viewer. Nothing gets shot without a reason behind it.
How a job runs
01
We talk about the story you want told, and who needs to hear it when they were not there for the work itself.
If the story has a person at the centre of it, we start with them. The rest of the film hangs off that conversation.

The person at the centre
02
Who we interview, what we need to see, and how many days the filming will take. That list is what keeps a long film from wandering.
The number of days is agreed here. A film that needs three days should not be squeezed into one.

An interview on the list
03
Interviews, and the pictures around them. We stay with a scene long enough for it to mean something to someone who does not know you yet.
We stay with a person long enough for them to finish the thought, even when the useful line arrives late.

A film with a shape to it, plus any shorter cuts you asked for from the same footage.
You get the film at the length it needs, and any shorter pieces pulled from the same interviews.

A place in the film
Every documentary is quoted after we know who is in it and how many days the filming will take. There is no set price on this page.

Across Greater Perth, and on jobs in the Wheatbelt, including Wheatbelt NRM in Northam. Whether a new job outside Greater Perth can happen is part of the first conversation.

That’s what the first conversation is for. Tell us where your business is at, and we’ll tell you honestly what kind of content will move the needle.
